For years now I have been making art about the importance of humanity remembering, or perhaps relearning, that we are part of nature. I have not read anything that puts it so clear or elegantly as this post.
I had thought initially that I might weave in a bit of Robin Wall Kimmerer's writing, but didn't have space or time. Are you familiar with her work? I think she's perhaps the leading voice today on remembering our place in the world.
I am not familiar with her work, thank you for the recommendation!
I've read Wild by Jay Griffiths and Feral by George Monbiot who both look at the idea of our wildness and connection to nature in different but hugely meaningful ways. Always thrilled to have another voice to add to my research.
Inspired, and inspiring writing Jason. Belated happy birthday!

Thank you
Thank you, Rosie. That's very high praise.

Her great work is Braiding Sweetgrass. Through word of mouth alone, it became a best-selling classic. I'm sure you'll enjoy and appreciate it.
Happy belated birthday 🎂!!!
Great writing - loved all the parts about birds and bravo to John Stimpson🙏
Thank you, Laurie. Stimpson is a marvel. Which is a reminder that I forgot to link the Guardian article that brought him to my attention. For anyone interested here it is: https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2022/jan/20/the-man-who-built-homes-for-60000-swifts-aoe
