Hi Jason, just finished my first two bird houses. That was a very useful and timely post! I’m planning to make a half dozen to scatter around our little meadow by the marsh. We had a few tree swallows last year and we want to encourage more. Next project is a bat house.
Hi Tom: Very happy to hear you're building your own colony up there in NS. There's nothing like watching tree swallows swoop for bugs by day, and watching bats take over the job every evening. I miss seeing bats around.
I've put up 21 houses so far (6 built by someone else), with another 18 to go. I'm really curious to see how much occupation we get with such a big increase. Maybe I'll convince a few headed your way to stick around here...
